Why Counseling Is Similar to Working for a Gold Medal

As we watch the Olympics, we are inspired by true greatness of effort and excellence by Michael Phelps, Simone Biles, Katie Ladecky, Simone Manuel and many others. Their hard work and diligence shines through as they win medal after medal. In a way, the efforts a person makes when they seek out counseling is similar to this hard work. Working with a counselor helps you to work hard on areas of life that you feel are not up to the standards you think they should be in order to lead a satisfied life.

Over my career as a counselor, I have also trained myself to be great by training under world-renowned counselors, who are true gold medalists in counseling expertise. These heroes have given me the confidence to be skilled and full of hope as I approach marriages, children, and individuals.

In a sense, receiving counseling is like training under a world-renowned coach who can help you to be truly great.

Don't give up on your marriage, child, or yourself when you have the opportunity for a gold medal in life. Be aggressive in seeking counseling. Follow instructions of counseling diligently. Begin to get some hope, and believe! And realize the power of habit—don't just dabble in counseling. Realize that to be great in your marriage, family, or any other aspect in life, it takes solid focus over time to produce gold medal results.

Form a team relationship with me, and I believe, we can soar to greatness together! You can stand on the gold-medal podium of life and celebrate with joy, tears, and deep satisfaction.
